Episode 18 - Thanks for the Mammaries

PCX reviews Wonder Woman V3 #1
"This is the cliffhanger. You're supposed to be like, 'What's going on here? Why is she in this role? I must buy the next issue!'"
"Let me tell you what would happen if that chick ever walked up into my secret society of evil villains. Can you say 'rape scenario'?"

Huh. You guys went from
"Strangers on a Train" to:
"Snakes on a Plane" in 3 episodes.

What's next- Wikipedia pimping of your podcast? (if you ever do that, I'm out...can you say weak?)

You seem to be changing - Don't be like those other hater dudes. They suck now. One notes. Be classy- talk about the comics the way you used to- Like, I never knew about some of the 70s editorial policy shit till you told the old co-host about it.

I'm with Ikenhammer- Trenchcoat... Speak up! it seems like you know more 'bout comics /industry than any other podcaster (word baloons, geek speak etc)

I do an indie comic if you ever want to do a skype thing.

ps

you two seem like you would like Dave Simm- Cerebus review?

Damn, when they compare you to Snakes on a Plane, it's definitely time to take a look in the mirror. Okay, I admit the show's going an awkward transitional phase, but we'll shoot for a better signal-to-noise ratio in the future (although if #18 wasn't to your liking, um, you might want to give #19 a pass in the meantime).

Thanks for the kind words though (really! I've heard CGS & Word Balloons, and those guys do have some degree of funnybook expertise); it's good to know someone out there appreciates the encyclopedia of useless comics knowledge that takes up way too much of my brain space (and speaking of the online encyclopedia you brought up, rest assured we'd never be so lame as to post a sloppily-written, slanderous, and inevitably-deleted entry on Wikipedia; I shudder to think of any podcast sad and desperate enough to sink that low).

We're trying to get our Skype shit together, actually; any creators or listeners who'd like to appear on the show, feel free to leave your contact info with our virtual receptionist (podcastx@hotmail.com).

Hopefully, we can eventually figure out how to Skype/record without the person Skyping into us sounding like they're in a bathysphere at the bottom of the ocean when we play the audio back.

His fucked-up (but fascinating) views on politics/religion aside, when it comes to the bitches, Dave Sim is a prophet and champion of truth. In his honor, a Cerebus review is indeed in the works.

Great! I'd love to be on your show! My skype name is djsloofus. I can't wait to talk to you! I'd like to return the complement and have you appear on our show. When is good for you?

-DJ Sloofus

P.S. I can record it for you and email you the file if that's easier.

Tranchoat and new dude (sorry I don't remember your name)... Don't fall for it. They ruined their own show months ago- don't let them ruin yours just cause you're in "transition". Let them keep poisoning their own well.

(BTW is Trekkie going back to the haters?) WTF?

You have a few commentors like Charles and Ikenhammer- put it up to them... or all your fans. If we want to hear 90% nonsense and like 10% comics we all know where to find the haters.

This is why I bothered to write in in the first place. We come here for old school comics. You know your shit.

I hate writing in- it always becomes some sort of flame war. Now I'm afraid to mention my comic for fear of them pulling their nonsense.

Trenchcoat, I'll email you off line.

Fans, speak up.

Hm. No one else spoke up. Guess I'll have to abide by the wishes of the one listener who took the time to voice his opinion on the matter, then. Wouldn't want to disappoint the fans (er, fan) after all.

Wow. So now those guys have become such bullies that we have people (understandably, I should add!) leery of discussing things as innocuous as their own comics projects for fear of a "flame war"?!

Maybe we here at Podcast X aren't the ones who need to take a look in the mirror after all.

How can you consider us 'bullies' when you take shots at us every single chance you can? Even on your previous comment on this very page...it's getting embarrassing for you. I was sincere in wanting to be on your show, but only if you get a little dignity first.

Sorry guys, you know I love you, but I gotta be fair: This episode was total crap. I didn't care about the boob shots(yes, I like boobs :P) and you hardly dissed the comic at all. And the new guy just isn't working out. Bring back Trekkie!

Could agree with all your comments more. But, where can you download these comics for free? Look forward to your reviews of the rest of this series.

Love your work. But confused by what was that McTrekkie segment in the next issue or the one after that. No such blog or podcast exists.

Just realized that these "comments" could be construed as all of the above. Rather, I agree with the Podcasters.

Anonymous:

Trekkie's message to fandom (previewed in ep. 16) did eventually air, albeit not until episode 20.

As to the other matter at hand, it would be as irresponsible of me to tell the world where they might download free comics as it would for me to tell you to, say, Google "DC++".

PCX: The Classics Tour.

1st appearance of Podon.

1st appearance of dreaded boob count.

Gweneth Paltrow does show her boobs in a couple of movies, got boring.

Nemesis was in Brave and the Bold.

Starhawk can get tedious. I don't even know what comic was reviewed.

Aw right, not much of a story. Diana's gone and Donna's the new Wonder Woman. It's an okay story but just seems too long for the little bit given.
